Family Group Description with Christine Schrader, MFT
One80 Center offers families an individualized and multi-dimensional program that is specifically designed to address the needs of those with loved ones in the beginning stages of recovery. One important aspect of this family program is a psycho-education and multi- family process group every Saturday that is facilitated by our family therapist. This group focuses on developing an understanding of the complexities of addiction as a family disease and the impact addiction has on the addict and the family. In order for true recovery to occur the entire family of the addict or alcoholic must also work towards changing their own patterns, which often includes patterns of enabling and co-dependency. In our family group families will learn tools to implement to help themselves and their families grow towards health and happiness. During the psycho-educational group, and individual family sessions, families and clients will also learn healthy forms of communication. The goal of the family program is for clients and their families to learn tools to serve as the foundation for each family to begin using appropriate coping and relapse prevention skills so that successful healthy family dynamics can be restored.
